Building your home or office starts with choosing the building plan that best suits your needs. The smallest details matter. Whatever building plan you settle on should factor in a variety of elements including the natural landscape of your property, your budget and the marketability of your location.

Consider these factors when you choose your building plan:

Budget
Money is the most important issue. Staying within a strict budget is essential to prevent a new home, store or office from becoming too costly down the road. Map out all expected construction costs. Building any major structure usually requires taking out construction loans. You need to find a loan with an interest rate you can afford and terms that make repaying the loan not too difficult. Consider your property taxes, utility bills and other key costs associated with building a new home or office. Estimating those costs ahead of time can help you spend wisely in the present. It will help you have a better eye on maximizing efficiency in building plan.

Location
Where you build influences how you build. Is your property a relatively flat piece of ground? Is it located on a hill or bench? Your building plan should incorporate the natural landscape. It can create unnecessary additional expenses to haul in tons of dirt or grade your property to fit a building plan. It is a better idea to make the building plan fit the land than the other way around.
